The Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Lungsod ng Naga (The Naga City Council), is the city’s law-making body, responsible for crafting ordinances and resolutions that also form part of the local government’s policies. The body meets every Tuesday, four times in a month, for its regular sessions. The sitting Vice-Mayor is also the presiding officer of the Sanggunian.
The City Council regularly meets every Tuesday at the Session Hall of the Sangguniang Panglungsod.
The new set of members of the City Council officially take over the legislative aspect of governance starting July 1, 2025. They will serve their term for the next three (3) years.
The Mace: Emblem of Authority and Order
The Mace serves as the official symbol of the Office of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, signifying the dignity, power, and authority vested in the City Council. It embodies the legislative body’s mandate to enact laws, maintain order, and represent the will of the people of Naga City.
During official sessions and ceremonial occasions, the Mace is carried by the Sergeant-at-Arms, whose role includes ensuring order within the chambers and enforcing the rules adopted by the Sanggunian. The presence of the Mace signals that the Council is in formal session and that its proceedings are duly authorized.
