AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE NO. 2017-029 OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE REVISED SOLO PARENT ORDINANCE, BY UPDATING THE RANKING AND AMOUNT GRANTED AS INCENTIVES TO EXEMPLARY STUDENTS OF SOLO PARENTS

Summary/Additional Info:

This ordinance amends Section 5 of the Revised Solo Parent Ordinance (2017-029) by updating the DepEd-based awards classification and the corresponding cash incentives for exemplary children of indigent solo parents. The new structure aligns with current DepEd award titles: With Highest Honors, With High Honors, and With Honors, replacing the outdated valedictorian/salutatorian scheme.

Updated incentive matrix:

  • College/University:
    • Summa Cum Laude – ₱5,000
    • Magna Cum Laude – ₱3,000
    • Cum Laude – ₱2,000
  • Grade 12:
    • With Highest Honors – ₱5,000
    • With High Honors – ₱3,000
    • With Honors – ₱2,000
  • Grades 6 & 10:
    • With Highest Honors – ₱3,000
    • With High Honors – ₱2,000
    • With Honors – ₱1,000
  • Other grade levels:
  • With Highest Honors – ₱1,000
  • With High Honors – ₱700
  • With Honors – ₱500

All recipients also receive a Certificate of Merit from the city government.

Effectivity: Retroactive to School Year 2019–2020
