COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION

FUNCTIONS

1. Conducts committee/public hearings on matters referred to it by the Sangguniang Panlungsod and recommends action thereon;
2. Reviews proposed programs and projects for educational development in the city, especially those projecting short-term and long term effects of such proposals;
3. Conducts programs and activities to encourage the optimal use of the Raul Roco Public Library and the Science Centrum;
4. Conducts researches in education as aid in policy formulation;
5. Formulates measures for matters dealing with educational problems, such high tuition fees, crowded classrooms, unqualified teachers;
6. Initiates seminars on educational policies and practices and be responsible for the dissemination of literature and information thereof;
7. Establishes linkages with significant government and private agencies and education-related institutions;
8. Assists in the establishment and improvement of barangay reading and information centers;
9. Monitors the implementation of education-related laws and ordinances;
10. Performs such other functions as may be adopted by the Sannnunian
