Summary/Additional Info:
Summary: This ordinance establishes the “Timbangan ng Bayan” (Community Weighing Scale) project in Naga City, aimed at ensuring fair trade practices within the Naga City Public Market. The city government, through the Market Superintendent, will install permanent weighing scales in specific sections of the market where goods are sold by weight, such as meat, fish, rice, vegetables, and sugar. These scales allow customers to verify the accurate weight of their purchases. Initially, one scale will be placed in the meat-chicken section and another in the rice section. Safety closets will be built for these scales, which will be accessible during business hours. Market Superintendent representatives will record instances of underweight goods, noting the actual weight, customer details, and establishment information, to facilitate appropriate legal action. The project is funded by an appropriation of Seven Thousand Five Hundred (P7,500.00) Pesos from the General Fund, designated for the purchase of three weighing scales and construction of their safety closets.
