For the third straight year, Naga City was declared Overall Most Competitive Component City in the Philippines. This, during the Philippine Creative Cities and Municipalities 2023 Competitiveness Congress held at the historic Manila Hotel.
Rankings of Cities and Municipalities are based on the sum of their scores on Four Pillars found among the most common key indicator areas.
The Pillars, and Naga’s ranking this year:
- Innovation (Maintained ranking at 1st Place)
- Infrastructure (From 2nd Place in 2022 to 1st Place in 2023
- Resiliency (Maintained ranking at 2nd Place)
- Economic Dynamism (6th Place in 2022 to 4th Place in 2023)
- Government Efficiency (from 14th in 2022 to 5th 2023)
Naga City obtained an overall score of 52.89, followed by Legazpi City (50.43), and Antipolo City (48.15). The first time Naga City was named Most Competitive Component City was in 2021. The Cities and Municipalities Competitive Index is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees (RCCs) with the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development.
The award was received by City Mayor Nelson Legacion, accompanied by City Administrator Elmer S. Baldemoro, Councilor Joe Perez, PDAO Head PJ Barrosa, CEPPIO Head Allen Lucre Reondanga, and Investment Promotions Officer PJ Legaspi.
