Peรฑafrancia Voyadores Festival and Street Dance Competition

From Naga Metropolitan Cathedral to Plaza Quezon Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines

After a Holy Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral (slated for 1:00 PM today Sept. 14) contingents from different schools will commence on a specified route to the Plaza Quezon for another edition of the most colorful and awe-inspiring Peรฑafrancia Pilgrim Streetdance Competition which will culminate at the Plaza Quezon.ย  The now-iconic spectacle was developed by the Development Institute for Bicolano Artistsย  (DIBA) Foundation, headed by Mrs. Amelita Zaens, years ago to rival other regional street dance festivals, and as a tribute to the profound and passionate devotion of Bicolanos to the Our Lady of Peรฑafrancia and Divino Rostro.

Special (Non-working Day) for Naga City and Metro Naga Municipalities

Sept. 15, 2023 is a special (non-working) in the municipalitiees of Bombon, Canaman, Calabanga, Camaligan, Gainza, Libmanan, Magarao, Milaor, Minalabac, Ocampo, Pasacao, Pamplona, Pili, San fernando and Bula, in accordance with Presidential Proclamation 332. Proclamation 776 has already delared every Friday preceding the Feast of the Our Lady of Peรฑafrancia as a special day in Naga City.

From Reina del Bicol Landing to Basilica Minore via Naga River Naga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines

Did you know: Originally, the fluvial procession concludes at the Old Peรฑafrancia Shrine instead of at the Basilica which is the practice beginning in 1982.   The Sacred Images of Inรข and Divino Rostro are brought back to the Basilica in a procession from the Metropolitan Cathedral. This procession has three parts: First is the foot procession from the Cathedral to the Reina del Bicol Pier at Tabuco; Second is the fluvial procession via the Naga River from Reina del Bicol Pier to the Basilica Pier at Balatas; Third is a foot procession again from the Landing Site to theโ€ฆ

In 1895, Pope Leo XIII, acting on the petition of the clergy and members of the Diocese of Nueva Caceres, led by Arsenio del Campo, coursed through the Sacred Congregation of Rites, issued a rescript fixing the Feast day of Our Lady of Peรฑafrancia on the first Sunday of July and declaring the same as the principal patron of the city of Nueva Caceres dated June 4 and 10,on the same year. But in 1905, Pope Pius X, through a rescript dated April 8 of the same year, granted the wishes of the Catholics of Nueva Caceresโ€ฆ
