Summary/Additional Info:
Summary: This ordinance grants a twenty percent (20%) discount on fares for senior citizens using common carriers (buses, jeepneys, trimobiles, and pedicabs/padyaks) within Naga City. It defines a “Senior Citizen” as any Naga City resident citizen who is at least sixty (60) years old, including retired government and private employees, with an annual income not exceeding P60,000.00. The ordinance adopts policies from Republic Act No. 7432, aiming to empower senior citizens and provide them with privileges. Common carriers are mandated to provide this discount and can claim the cost as tax credits against the City of Naga. Violations of the ordinance are punishable by one (1) month imprisonment, a fine not exceeding P1,000.00, or both. The ordinance takes effect fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation in Naga City.
