The City Government of Naga recently unveiled “La Ciudad de Nueva Caceres: The Illustrious Origins of the City of Naga,” a coffee table book that beautifully captures the city’s rich history and cultural narratives. Written by esteemed local historian Dr. Danilo M. Gerona, the book chronicles Naga’s journey—from its illustrious beginnings to its trials, growth, and ultimate resurgence—highlighting its transformation into a city with a promising future.
During the official turnover of the book copies, Mayor Nelson S. Legacion, Vice Mayor Cecilia B. Veluz-De Asis, and City Councilor Jose B. Perez, the SP Committee Chair on Culture and the Arts, formally accepted the books on behalf of the 14th Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The ceremony was graced by a distinguished audience, including city government department heads, representatives from government agencies, barangays, art and heritage organizations, educational institutions, religious leaders, parish priests, and socio-civic groups. The launch not only celebrated the city’s rich history but also its collective efforts in preserving and promoting its cultural heritage.
