THE CITY GOVERNMENT OF NAGA has taken a significant step toward realizing its vision of being a smart and sustainable city by partnering with DOST V and Ateneo de Naga University to implement the project, “Empowering Naga City by Enhancing LoRaWAN Infrastructure for a Sustainable Smart City Future.” The initiative seeks to enhance the city’s technological capabilities by expanding its Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) infrastructure, a vital component for Internet of Things (IoT) applications and smart city advancements.
As part of this program, DOST V, through DOST Camarines Sur, officially turned over the project funding of One Million Pesos (P1,000,000) for the acquisition of ten (10) additional LoRaWAN gateways. The ceremonial turnover was officiated by DOST Regional Director Rommel Serrano, CESO III, who presented the funds to Mayor Nelson Legacion.
Mayor Legacion conveyed his appreciation, highlighting the project’s significance in enhancing the city’s smart city initiatives and strengthening disaster risk reduction. RD Serrano expressed his aspiration for Naga City to become a benchmark for other communities in smart city development. Dean Referendo Soriano of ADNU emphasized the university’s commitment to supporting the project through its technical knowledge and expertise.
With the initiative set to roll out, Naga City moves closer to realizing a smarter, more connected, and resilient future.
