Naga City startup Agrabah wins ASEAN Blue Innovation Challenge

Agrabah Ventures, a Naga City-based startup, has been named one of the ASEAN Blue Innovation Challenge (ABIC) winners for its groundbreaking initiative, EcoBlue: Agrabah’s Seaweed Initiative for Carbon Neutrality.

With a $38,000 award from the Government of Japan and endorsed by UNDP and ACCMSME, Agrabah will pilot a sustainable seaweed farming value chain, empowering coastal communities through eco-friendly practices and carbon sequestration.

Agrabah’s initiative is tackling two major issues coastal communities face: economic instability and environmental degradation. By establishing a sustainable seaweed farming system, the company aims to uplift local farmers while leveraging seaweed’s natural ability to sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The project will create new economic opportunities for farmers and help mitigate climate change through eco-friendly practices.
