Title of Proposed Legislation:
AN ORDINANCE RENAMING THE PRESENT PLAZA QUEZON TO PLAZA QUEZON DE  NAGA THEREBY AMENDING NA6A CITY ORDINANCE NO. 378, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
Type of Legislation: Ordinance

This proposed ordinance officially renames the public park known as “Plaza Quezon” to “Plaza Quezon de Naga,” amending Naga City Ordinance No. 378 (1971). The renaming:

  • Reinforces Naga City’s cultural identity and historical significance.
  • Honors President Manuel L. Quezon while celebrating the city’s heritage as “Ciudad de Naga.”
  • Aligns with ongoing renovation and beautification efforts supported by Senator Ronald M. Dela Rosa and designed by the United Architects of the Philippines Camarines Sur Chapter.
  • Mandates updates to official references, signage, and communications.
  • Directs the City Tourism Office to lead public awareness campaigns.
  • Requires the inclusion of heritage-based design elements and a bust relief of President Quezon in the plaza’s redevelopment.
