NAGA CITY — Sixteen promising startups made their pioneering step toward commercialization today as student and faculty innovators presented their ventures at the Quartus: Idea2Startup Batch 4 Demo Day at the Naga City People’s Hall on June 16, 2026.
Representing four local higher education institutions–Ateneo De Naga University, Bicol State College of Applied Sciences and Technology, Naga College Foundation, and University of Nueva Caceres–the teams pitched their working prototypes before a panel of expert evaluators, industry leaders, government partners, startup mentors, potential collaborators, and members of the public. What began as academic research and classroom projects has evolved into early-stage ventures designed to address real-world challenges through innovative, market-oriented solutions.
The road to Demo Day began in September 2025, when the sixteen teams received seed funding to develop their ideas into viable startup concepts. Over the succeeding months, they focused on creating and polishing their prototypes through participating in activities such as hands-on workshops, one-on-one mentorship, and training, guided by their institutions, incubators, and mentors.
The Idea2Startup Program serves as a vital bridge between research and entrepreneurship, empowering students and faculty members to transform academic innovations into ventures with commercial potential. By combining funding, capacity-building, mentorship, and industry engagement, the program helps promising ideas move beyond laboratories and classrooms and progress toward becoming sustainable businesses that generate economic value.
