In celebration of Senior Citizens’ Month every October, the City Government of Naga appoints senior citizens as counterparts to city officials and department heads. This initiative aims to give elderly Nagueños a voice in proposing ordinances, recommending programs, and observing the operations of the city government.
In line with Ordinance No. 2022-049, 22 senior citizens were appointed to honor their wisdom and experiences as they participate in the day-to-day planning and projects of Naga City Hall leaders. They will focus on suggesting ordinances and initiatives that cater specifically to the welfare of Naga’s senior citizens.
As part of the celebration, a medical mission will be held on October 21, 2025, in partnership with Robinsons Naga, providing free essential healthcare services to elderly individuals. Furthermore, a birth registration program will take place on October 23, 2025, at the Naga City People’s Hall. It aims to provide elderly citizens without proper documentation with legal proof of identity, making it easier for them to access government services and programs.
The 22 elderly members will also receive a 1-month honorarium for their contributions to the city’s governance.
Currently, 26,417 active OSCA ID holders in Naga are expected to receive benefits and privileges included in the ordinance. via | Christine Kim Villafuerte
