A Triumph of Passion and Perseverance: ACE Culinary School Fetees New Grads
Chef Pablo “Boy” Logro, a world-renowned Filipino culinary expert and celebrity chef, was this year’s guest speaker at the Academy of Career Education (ACE) Culinary School graduation rites held at the Summit Hotel in Naga City on April 23, 2024.
Led by Batch Valedictorian Carmela Elaine Eugenio, some 34 graduates received their certificates as the first batch of students to complete the course at the fast-rising culinary school in Naga.
Chef Logro’s rise from humble beginnings to celebrity chef status comprised the core of his inspiring message.
Born to an impoverished fishing family in Biliran, in Leyte, Logro’s fortunes started to change when he worked as a houseboy in a Chinese restaurant in Quiapo, Manila at the age of 13. He later went abroad to work as a sous chef for His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said al Said of Oman. Returning to the Philippines after working for 10 years for the King, he applied for work as a sous chef at the Diamond Hotel. Later, he would be promoted to Executive Chef, the first Filipino to hold the position at a five-star luxury hotel.
Chef Boy Logro was also the host of popular cooking shows (Chef Boy Logro: Kusina Master, and Idol sa Kusina), and appeared in several movies and other TV shows.
ACE Culinary School, located in Magsaysay Avenue in Naga City, Bicol region, is committed to excellence and fostering creativity and innovation. With its state-of-the-art facilities and experienced faculty, the Academy offers an immersive learning environment where students are equipped with the skills and knowledge essential for success in the culinary industry.
According to Chef Billy Genterola, Chef/Managing Director, the school’s curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded education that prepares graduates for the challenges and opportunities of the culinary world.
With the theme “Crafting Culinary Triumph: Mastering the Culinary Journey with Passion and Perseverance,” the ceremony was a culmination of the students’ dedication and hard work throughout their academic journey.
