Robredo Coliseum.

Reynor Rodriguez, the city’s vaccination coordinator, said the project is expected to reduce the number of unvaccinated children age 5 to 11 years old. At present, there are around 15 percent of the target 30,000 children have been inoculated.

The city government is administering Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines to children of such age group as recommended by the Food and Drug Administration. The Pfizer vaccine for kids is specially formulated for younger bodies – it only has 10 micrograms per dose compared to the adult version, which has 30 micrograms per dose.

As in previous conduct of child vax, the city government will see to it that the pediatric vax sites are child-friendly to make the inoculation drive as fun and exciting as possible using mascots, costumes, music, and colorful designs.

In the city’s vaccination campaign, Rodriguez said the city is continuously undertaking its vax drive despite having vaccinated around 74 percent already of its 210,000 general population.

Meanwhile, the city government is continuously conducting coordination with the private sector, especially to the management of different malls, where off-site immunization activities can be held.

He said the city government is doing some arrangements so that parents who wish to submit their children for off-site immunization will be accommodated thru online scheduling.

“Taking a vax jab makes one feels confident, relaxed” https://www2.naga.gov.ph/taking-a-vax-jab-makes-one-feels-confident-relaxed/ https://www2.naga.gov.ph/taking-a-vax-jab-makes-one-feels-confident-relaxed/#respond Mon, 17 May 2021 01:06:54 +0000 http://new.nagacity.ml/?p=1494 The City Mayor personally hands the kit to a Covid-19 patient.
The City Mayor personally hands the kit to a Covid-19 patient.

Receiving a Covid-19 vaccine shot can help make vaccinees feel at peace not to be infected with the virus while continuously observing always the appropriate health and safety protocols.

This was given emphasis by Danilo Gerona, a history professor at the Partido State University in Goa, Camarines Sur, who received his first dose of Sinovac vaccine last May 6 at the Naga City Vaccination Operations Center (Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum). Second dose will be administered after 4 weeks.

Gerona said he felt a sigh of relief after having been vaccinated. “In this time of pandemic, almost every one of us are alarmed of being infected with the dreaded SARS-CoV-2, which causes Covid-19,” he said.

Like any other vaccine, Gerona felt no adverse reaction after taking the vaccine. The professor was among the third batch of vaccinees whose inoculation was administered by the medical healthcare workers of the city government of Naga. The first was conducted at the Bicol Medical Center with the LGU’s medical frontliners as vaccine recipients while the second with the same beneficiaries was held at the Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum.

Meanwhile, the LGU has started the distribution of more than 200 Covid-19 Care Kits to households whose members are in home quarantine or under house lockdown.
On Monday, May 10, the mayor toured barangays Dayangdang, Liboton, and Peñafrancia to personally deliver the kits along with the food stuffs and other assistance to families undergoing home quarantine.

Each kit is contained with vitamins, disinfectants (alcohol), face masks, digital thermometer, and pulse oximeter, which measures how much oxygen is in the blood.

NAGA CITY — A majority number of mall owners and supervisors of Business Process Outsourcing firms in the city have closed ranks with the city government here in the conduct of the planned mass immunization that will start to reel off by 3rd or 4th quarter of 2021.

The manifestation of support from the business sector was discussed in a meeting with Mayor Nelson Legacion last Monday, Jan. 18, specifically the plan by big establishment owners to purchase their own AstraZeneca vaccines that will be used for the immunization of their employees.

In an interview, Mayor Nelson Legacion said that he raised in the meeting his proposition to the businessmen to consider in the purchase of their own vaccines their employees’ household members as beneficiaries also.

Earlier, a BPO firm has signified with the mayor its intention to purchase 4,000 doses of the vaccine intended for the vaccination of its 2,000 employees. The company openly told the mayor to include them in the city government’s firm order.

Initially, the LGU has ordered 180 thousand doses of AstraZeneca vaccines for the first 90,000 Nagueños.
The meeting was participated in by the officers of Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Metro Naga Water District, and representatives of those in BPO and retail industries.

As of press time yesterday, the city mayor has been preparing for a zoom meeting with a British government official who manifested his willingness to extend assistance to the LGU in its plan to procure vaccines.
