To celebrate the accomplishments for the year, the Naga City Startups Year-End Assembly & 2024 Preview was held on December 7, 2023, at Tiger’s Cafe, Magsaysay Avenue. It was the perfect time to bring together everyone in the startup ecosystem and revisit the experiences shared, problems encountered, and goals achieved.

Naga City remains steadfast in its commitment to sustaining the growth of local startups and help generate positive impacts in the community. As we anticipate the coming year, 2024 promises to be even more vibrant, implementing programs to support the city’s innovators.

Naga City proudly welcomed the inauguration of Brink’s Philippines’ Naga Hub on November 7, 2023, marking a significant investment to enhance financial security and economic opportunities in Bicol.  The company’s purpose-built facility in Concepcion Grande is now one of the company’s hubs in the country.  The others are in Manila, La Union, Sta. Rosa (Laguna) and Cebu.  With an initial investment of US$ 1.5M, the facility will create at least 300 new jobs for Nagueños; and serve the market for outsourced cash services in the region.

Naga City’s startup ecosystem development program continues to make major strides.
One of the Innovation Grant recipients of NEDA-NIC,  Naga participated in the 2023 National Innovation Day (NID) Celebration in the Philippines held last April 28, 2023 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay, Manila.
 The first face-to-face celebration of Filipino Innovation, NID marked a significant milestone in the country’s pursuit of a dynamic innovation ecosystem supporting inclusive socioeconomic development. The event provided a fitting platform for the city’s pioneering programs in startup ecosystem development. It also showcased local startups in Naga that are backed by the local government through the Naga City Investment Board (NCIB).
With the theme “HABI: Huddle. Analyze. Build. Innovate” or HABI, 2023 highlights initiatives, celebrates milestones, and promotes innovation in the Philippines. Participated by more than 400 guests and attendees, the celebration featured 20 private and government innovations under the 5 categories:
  •  People
  • Economy
  •  Environment
  •  Institution
  •  Ecosystem
The Naga City Startup Ecosystem Development Program of LGU Naga is one of the 13 proposals that received the Innovation Grant Fund last year from the National Innovation Council from among 440+ proposals nationwide. The Naga City Exhibit was also made possible through the support of
HAKA Naga stands for Harong Katuod Naga, a non-profit organization that officially represents the Naga City startup community. It is best described as a Startup Handholding Initiative for Naga-Registered Entrepreneurs (SHINE). HAKA Naga envisions developing an ecosystem that would spark technopreneurship in the Bicol Region, but also welcomes startup founders from anywhere in the world.
